Although you may not think of soup as being a staple diet of Spain, you may be surprised to know that many meals from different regions do in fact start with some kind of soup dish.
One of the most popular soups across Spain is the refreshing cold soup of gazpacho which is made from ripe juicy, tomatoes. It is really healthy and just right for those hot summer days. In the winter there is nothing so comforting as a hot bowl of soup to warm you through.
Spanish cuisine boasts many soups, some are chunky containing meat with chickpeas or lentils. Others on the other hand are soft, smooth and creamy made of vegetables. Then you have the soups that are more like a consommé; clear and packed full of flavour.
Whatever your fancy, the one thing I think we can all agree on is that soup is by no means a lesser, or uninspiring dish.
